PENNY HUNT, Executive Director
Penny has been Executive Director of the Robina Foundation since 2009. Prior to joining the Robina Foundation, Penny was Vice President, Community Affairs and Executive Director of The Medtronic Foundation at Medtronic, Inc., the world’s largest medical technology company.
For nearly 15 years at Medtronic, Penny had primary responsibility for the development of major partnerships and strategic relationships and grants with local, national and international organizations. Leading the development and implementation of Medtronic’s worldwide philanthropy strategies, Penny launched Medtronic’s international philanthropy. During her tenure, Medtronic Foundation grants grew from $2.4 million to more than $25 million per year, with focus in the areas of health, education and community.
Before joining Medtronic, Penny was Director of Public Affairs for the Dayton Hudson Department Store Company (now Target Corporation), where she managed charitable giving, government and public affairs. An experienced lawyer, Ms. Hunt spent more than 14 years working for law firms and in private practice, with a concentration in real estate law and development. She also taught French at the high school and college levels.
Ms. Hunt holds a bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in French from Carleton College, a master’s degree in arts and teaching from Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, and a juris doctor degree magna cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota. Penny was a Fulbright Scholar in Lyon, France.
Penny’s community involvement has included membership in the Minnesota Women’s Economic Roundtable and on the boards of MacPhail Center for Music, Mill City Commons, Housing 150, an affordable housing collaboration, William Mitchell College of Law, the Minnesota Council on Foundations, the corporate committees of the Conference Board and the Council on Foundations, the Minnesota Women’s Campaign Fund (now WomenWinning), and the United Way of Minneapolis.
NANCY GILBERG, Administrative Consultant
Nancy L. Gilberg has served as administrative consultant for the Robina Foundation since 2007. Prior to this position, Nancy worked as executive assistant to Edson W. Spencer, former Robina Foundation board member, retired CEO of Honeywell, and Chair of the Ford Foundation Board. For more than twenty years, she previously worked as executive assistant and office manager to financial consultant and investment banker Robert W. Fischer.
Nancy holds a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from the University of Minnesota and earned an Industrial Relations Certificate from the Carlson School of Management. She served as a board member of the Twin Cities Urban Reconciliation Network, a non-profit organization partially funded by the McKnight Foundation. In addition, Nancy volunteered as a support group facilitator and growth group leader for sexual abuse survivors. As a long-time member at Wooddale Church, she served as chair of a “fellowship week” event, on committees for the social concerns/mission program, a women’s retreat, and was one of the church’s wedding coordinators. She also sang in the choir and small ensembles.
